Youth

The youth program at First Christian Church is comprised of young people in grades 3-12. The Youth gather on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. for a meal, Bible study, and games! Once a month a fun trip is planned to such places as Carowinds, the movies, Appalachian Ski Mountain, etc.

Beginning June 21st and running through the end of summer, we will be having Summer Sunday Movie Nights each Sunday from 6-9pm. This is open to all Youth in Winston-Salem! A family friendly movie will be shown in Taylor Hall, and there will be small group discussion afterward tying the movie into Christian themes. Popcorn and soda will be provided during the movie.

The Youth try on mustaches at the 2013 Carolina Renaissance Festival

Throughout the school year the Youth  participate in a few community outreach programs, such as the Crop Hunger Walk, Samaritan Ministries, Christmas caroling for homebound church members, etc. The Youth also take an annual Summer Mission Trip to Christmount Work Camp, which is located in Black Mountain, NC.

The Youth enjoy their hike down Stone Mountain along the cascading waterfall.

Each May a particular Sunday is designated as “Youth Sunday” and all of the children and Youth are involved in worship, serving as leaders for the entire service.¬† They present a skit or play, serve as elders and deacons, read scripture and usually provide the sermon itself.¬† The event is well-attended and helps to connect the congregation with the Youth and children of the church.
